Hey Kids, Comics!
I was super excited to get to go to my friend, Rob Kelly’s book signing at Bookends in Ridgewood, NJ today! I know a lot of you are comic book fans so I thought I’d share his book with you.
Hey Kids, Comics!: True-Life Tales From The Spinner Rack is an anthology of true-life stories from comic book legends, authors, TV and film writers, journalists, and people from all walks of life on how comic books changed their lives. Accompanied by vintage photos, HEY KIDS, COMICS! is a must-read for any comic book fan or student of pop culture history.
I haven’t read it yet but I’ll be posting a review as soon as I’m done and will likely be interviewing Rob as well. I’m a huge fan of comics (though admittedly not so much the superhero ones) so I’m sure this is going to be a gem! The link is above if you’re interested in learning more about it.
Rob also runs a pretty amazeballs web comic, called Ace Kilroy, which he describes as Indiana Jones meets the Universal Monsters. It’s currently in Season 2 and it is, of course, totes free. TOTES. 🙂

Happy Holidays, Layne!
I like comics too and I can stand the superhero ones. Have you ever read the Lucifer series?
Happy Holidays, E! 🙂
I have NOT read the Lucifer series! I like the sound of it though! I’m big on things like Sandman, Y: The Last Man and Fables.
I didn’t love Y but I bet you’d love Lucifer… : )
I’ll definitely check it out. 🙂 I’ll see if the local library has it and if not, I know quite a few comic shops.
i love comic books!#D
Then you will probably love this book! 🙂 Comics are awesome!
Ok, I’ll try to find it online~! if not at a nearby bookstore! Thx for sharing this by the way!
😉
I included the link for the Amazon and I believe you can find it on the Hey Kids, Comics! website but hopefully it is in a nearby store! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Gotta love New Jersey!
Oh def! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy living here. 🙂
I grew up in Bergen County and always wanted to leave, but now look back fondly. My novel takes place in Englewood 🙂 My mother worked in Ridgewood and my father was a cop in New Milford. What brought you to the Garden State?
Nice! I’ve lived here four years now, all in Morris County. And I met a guy. 😉 Broke up with the guy and decided I liked it better here than Alabama. 🙂 I’ll have to check out your novel – I’m a big reader as well as movie watcher!
My husband wants to move to Alabama 🙂 I met him and moved up to Saratoga NY. I like the cold so he has some major convincing to do. I hope New Jersey people are treating you well.
New Jersey and New York people so far have all been awesome. 🙂 To me, it’s not that different from Alabama – strangers still come up and talk to me all the time, lol. I don’t know about moving to Bama though… 😉 Nah, there’s good and bad just like everywhere else but if you like the cold, then you will just die in the summers there, lol.
Yes, I find that no matter where you go if you’re open to it, people are friendly. I’m a complainer when it comes to humidity. It’s in my husband’s best interest to stay north 🙂 Do you miss anything about the south?
Haha, definitely in his best interest then! 😉 Hmm…I miss the warmth for sure (I’m a big complainer when it comes to the cold, lol)…there are certain foods I miss that aren’t up here…but being here is SO much better for me with my chosen careers and just how I am as a person. 🙂
Have you chosen to be a mafia boss? haha. Glad you’re enjoying NJ. I feel oddly protective of my home state.
*giggles* No, just an actress. And I understand the protectiveness. 🙂
I was going to guess ACTRESS! Much success! If my book ever gets made into a movie maybe you can star in it 🙂
Thank you! And that would be awesome! 🙂 I’m a writer as well – just got done filming a web series I wrote. And much success to you with your novel!! I’m excited to read it. 🙂
Let me know when it comes out–is it a scary thriller?
Oh, it’ll be posted here. 🙂 And no, it’s a dramedy.
I like dramedys. I’ll keep an eye out for it.

Awesome, Misty! Going to check to see if my library has a copy! Go Jersey!
I’m not sure if it’s in libraries yet but I know they’re working on that but yes, go Jersey! 🙂
Sounds cool!
So far I’m loving it! Lots of fun essays!
