So there you have it – my 99 classic films for the year (although if someone wants to add one more so that it’s an even hundred, my OCD would thank you! ;)). Obviously this will take me awhile and I’ll be mixing it all in with my regular stuff but I think it’s going to be fun. The only problem I’ve run into so far is that a few of these aren’t on streaming so I’ll have to hunt them down in other ways so I’m starting with the easiest available first. Should have the first one up this week. 🙂
Thanks again for all the suggestions guys! You ALL ROCK! Oh and if you made a suggestion and it’s not on the list, it’s only cause I’ve already seen it.

What an eclectically awesome list! I’m actually excited to see what you think of them. Major variety here. Oh, you have Harvey and A Clockwork Orange twice. I’m sure you will have plenty suggestions to fill the gaps. Glad you included some of my favorite choices. Enjoy!
Thanks for noticing that I had those twice!! Much appreciated! I was working on it late last night and was starting to cross eyed because I actually put them all in a spreadsheet with where I could find them streaming, etc. I’m super excited to see how it all goes too – gotta round up some friends for some movie marathons, methinks. 🙂
There are quite a few here that I’m stunned you haven’t seen! But I’m looking forward to you getting to the end 🙂
I know!! That’s the whole point – to have people stop being stunned I haven’t seen these. 😉 Lol, I’m looking forward to getting to the end too – it’s definitely going to be a fun ride! 🙂
Awesome list. I left a comment already, but stupid wordpress didn’t seem to process it. Anyway, I hope you enjoy all of these films. Some are my favorites (other than my suggestions). Just to mention, you have Harvey and Clockwork Orange twice on the list. But somebody will suggest more choices I’m sure.
It’s so strange – your first comments, WP makes me approve (and that shouldn’t be happening because you’ve commented here before). So if you comment and it doesn’t show up, it’s just waiting for approval – I’ll try to fix that if I can figure out how!
WordPress just doesn’t like us Old School brothers lol
This sounds fun!! i just posted something about a movie with Brooke Shields in it. You should add The Blue Lagoon to your list to round out your 100 and make both of our OCDs stop going haywire.
*giggles* I have seen Blue Lagoon!!! That movie kinda creeps me out, not gonna lie…AHHHHH, OCD madness!!! 😉
This is as bad as a crooked picture on the wall!! How about The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen??
If it’s not on the list, then yes! But now we only have 98 because I had two movies on there twice – it just gets worse and worse, E.!!!!
Now this is WORSE than standing on a crack in the sidewalk!!! UM – Night of the Creeps?? The Grapes of Wrath???
Why on earth would you stand on a crack in the sidewalk??? This is worse than going down an aisle in a fabric store trying to touch everything once, missing something and having to start over again. Oy. I think I saw Night of the Creeps. Definitely saw Grapes of Wrath…Give me a gaillo!!!
I KNOW!!!! Or having to look at a non horizontal screw on the light switch outlet cover!!! Giallo!! The Bird with the Crystal Plumage and The Fifth Cord!!! Let’s put a stop to this madness!!!
What?? That is craziness!! Stop!!! And yes, yes, yes, I don’t think either of those is on there!! *sigh of relief*
*BREATHE* whew!!
Who’s the wiseguy who suggested Zardoz?
Was it you?….Lol, I honestly don’t remember whom suggested what at this point – there were 100 something comments to go through.
Not that I remember…
That movie is wretched, a complete chore to sit through. Even worse than Blade Runner.
I was thinking about doing something similar to this since there are a lot of classic movies I haven’t seen, but I can’t compete with you.
😦 Oh…that is really sad-making. Now I have to go back through to find out who hates me so much… 😦 Thanks for not suggesting it, Brian.
Do something similar, it doesn’t have to be a competition. 😉 And we could totally cross promote and stuff.
Sounds like you’re trying to trick me…….
No, no…I would never do that…like ever…
Hmmm how about Freaks, can’t believe you haven’t seen Goodfellas! ;P
I own Freaks. 🙂 That’s a great classic! And I know, right? Lol.
Very cool list, I’m looking forward to seeing your opinions on them – particularly Butch Cassidy as I love that film and was so glad to see it on here!
Oh good – hopefully I like it as much as you do! 🙂
That’s all? You can do all of those in one night! 😉 Have fun, amiga!
You overestimate my awesomeness, Vic. It’s okay, it happens a lot. 😉 And thanks, I shall!
My fave Clint Eastwood western is ‘High Plains Drifter’ which has the most awesome ending. I would suggest replacing ‘Fist Full of Dollars’ or a ‘Few Dollars More’ with that one. Have you seen Fargo? Black Sabbath is my hands down absolute fave Bava film – its short stories but I like that.
I can add “High Plains Drifter”. 🙂 I also can add “Fargo” because I haven’t seen it. I can never remember if I’ve seen “Black Sabbath” or not – I’ve seen a lot of things that start with the word “Black” apparently, so that might be added also. Thanks!
There are many classics here. I’d recommend Apocalypse Now first, mostly because it’s my favorite film.
I think I saw that in high school and wasn’t a huge fan but I am willing to revisit.
Good luck with that…”You can do it”!
Thanks! 🙂
Looks like a great mix of stiff classics and fun crap. Always a good approach. I probably suggested Zardoz and I’m glad I did. Not that it’s great, but it’s worth seeing for it’s oddness and hey maybe you will like it.
Lol, thanks for the suggestion of Zardoz then! I do like odd so hopefully it’ll be a good pairing. 🙂
Good stuff. It will be fun reading your reviews when you post them.
If you are interested in anything Giallo based (saw something in the comments about it) here is a good link to start with. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giallo
Dario Argento, Mario Bava, Lucio Fulci are some directors to research.
Ooohh, nice, thanks for the link! I am a fan of Argento but I don’t think I’ve seen any Bava or Fulci so this is great. 🙂
I assume you have a strong stomach because of what you review. Those guys really push the limit. I know Fulci’s Zombie has an eye gouge scene that will make you cringe.
Good luck with all of it.
I do have a strong stomach but not for eye stuff. *shivers* I like my eyes and I don’t like the thought of people doing weird things to them…
That scene is a tough one on the eyes.
Hehehehe, that was funny. 😉
Seriously how have you not watched The Thing? The Thing!
I know, I know. I am very particular in my avoidance of classics apparently. 😉
There is a banner on my about page, if you don’t know where those pictures are from you and me need to talk!
Hmmm…Predator, Alien and the Thing??…
You missed one, but true 😀
