Freddy vs. Jason
And the final entry in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise (nope, the remake is NOT gonna be talked about here!) is Freddy vs Jason. So what do I have to say about this film?
IT’S MOTHEREFFING FREDDY VS JASON!!!! That’s what I have to say about it. Seriously, if you go into this movie looking for plot or underlying themes or anything at all other than the fact that FREDDY and JASON are kicking the shit out of each other then um, I think you are totally missing the point of this flick. Plus it has Ginger from Ginger Snaps. ‘Nuff said.

Who wins??? No wait…don’t tell me. I sure hope its Jason though.
Who wins is entirely up to the viewer… 😉 You’re a Jason’nite? I just made that word up…
I enjoyed this entry. I forgot about Ginger being in this movie. Is she the one that’s always wearing the baseball cap? duh…me forget things sometimes 😀
Haha, yeah, she’s the one in the baseball cap. 🙂 This entry was entirely enjoyable and good awesome fun!
I just grabbed the dvd from my son’s room lol. 😀
*giggles* SWEET!
Freddy vs. Jason is such a fun movie. These days we don’t get too many movie franchise crossovers, unless you count The Avengers, so it was pretty special when it first came out. I got kicked out of the theater when I went with a bunch of my friends because we were underage; jeez, was I really that young when this was released in theaters? I think I watched it as soon as it was on DVD.
Yeah, I think this was the start of things like Alien vs. Predator and all that. But this was the only one I enjoyed (that I remember). 🙂
I only saw this once in the theater, so my memory of it isn’t very good. It HAS to be better than AvP, though.
I never saw AvP (because I didn’t like Alien and never saw Predator so it held no interest for me).
You don’t like Alien? What happened in your life to make you that way? Can I help?
*giggles* It was a boring movie. I went in expecting horror and by the time the alien popped out of the stomach I was dreadfully bored.
Wow, I think you’re the first person I’ve seen say it was boring. What about the rest of the series?
Didn’t watch the rest of the series since I never finished the first one. Figured I wouldn’t like them either although I hear the 2nd one (I think the 2nd one) is wayyy better.
They’re all pretty different. The second one is more action-oriented.
Maybe I will revisit them. I’ll at least check out the 2nd.
This movie was fucking awesome and the only thing that would have made it better would have been Hodder as Jason,
Yay! Glad you concur that it was fucking awesome!! I can’t comment on Hodder as I’m not quite as huge a Jason fan as I am Krueger (although I’ve seen a few of his movies too) – was that the original actor? I know there have been a few.
Kane Hodder starred in Friday the 13ths 7, 8, 9 and 10. He was the only actor to play Jason more than once. Did you ever see Monster with Charlize Theron? He was one of the undercover officers posing as a biker at the end,
Yeah, I did see that! Cool. I’ve seen 8 (Takes Manhattan?) and hated it. I think I saw Jason X also. I have vague memories of Jason in space…
That would be Jason X
That’s what I thought. I think I should do a Jason marathon next since I haven’t seen them all.
I had the pleasure of seeing Freddy Vs. Jason theatrically back in 2003 with my aunt, when a mere few mintues into the flick the hot Crystal Lake babe with the large boobs shed her clothing to go skinnydipping my aunt said as she jogged down the pier “check out those buns”
*giggles*
Haha yay! This film is crazy 😀
Great movie. Nice review. I wish they would make a sequel.
Maybe one day…since the whole remake thing didn’t work out so well for them (I don’t think anyway).
Did you not like either remake because I seem to be in the minority when it comes to liking them? Friday was better than Nightmare, but they were both good.
I HATE the Nightmare remake – I think it’s a piece of crap. I know they did a lot of similar shots and stuff and they made Freddy a child molester (as he was originally supposed to be) but no. Just no. And the Friday remake I tried watching and I couldn’t even finish it. I can’t remember why it seemed so terrible to me – if it was the acting or if it was something else – was it really slow paced? I haven’t revisited it since.
Got it. Those two movies seem to be a love it or hate it thing. There really isn’t a middle.
The Friday remake didn’t seem slow paced to me, but it has been a while for me as well.
Loves this movie!! Saw it in the theater twice, actually. lol Have it on Blu-Ray but haven’t had a chance to revisit it yet.
Nice!! I bet there’s some cool special features on the Blu-Ray, eh? 🙂
I think they are pretty much the same ones on the DVD. There wasn’t a lot of fanfare when they released it.
Ah, gotcha. I don’t think there were many on the dvd but I have the series pack, not individual.
You should TOTALLY do a F 13 marathon next!!![””””””;;;;;;;;[[[[[
Just so you know and for posterity – my cat typed up those symbols after that last exclamation point for you.
*giggles* Thank you to the kitteh for that! And lol, I think I might. Will probably be after the new year though. I have 3 more movies I HAVE to review, then stuff for Nostalgiathon plus with holidays, I’m thinking beginning of next year!
Freddy Vs Jason was an idea that New Line tossed around for a decade, a multitude of different scripts were written by various writers, the most interesting that I wish the studio had greenlit was that Freddy was a worker at Crystal Lake and actually molested Jason as a child!! In that draft it was revealed that throughout the Friday The 13th series Jason really trying to find Freddy to confront and destroy him for what he did.
Really?? I didn’t know all that. That’s intriguing! Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!
Yes, it had had survivors from both the Nightmare On Elm Street & Friday The 13th series banning together to finally put a stop to both the supernatural maniacs killing sprees.
I don’t know if I’m alone, but I think this is a great film. A far better ‘Freddy’ film than most of the Nightmare on Elm Street remakes that followed Wes Craven’s original masterpiece. A near perfect horror flick, notwithstanding the must-end-in-sequel ending, but still great all around. The best part of the movie is where Freddy gets pulled into the real world, looks at Jason and goes ‘uh oh.’ Perfect scene. Not to mention the Jason goes nuts in the cornfield scene, which is I think most fans were hoping for in Jason Takes Manhattan.
Great movie!
Totally agree!! Awesome movie! Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!
I want my Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash movie now!
Dude, that would be so sweet!
There was talks about this like eons ago. I know they had at least a rough script done and Campbell was on board at some point. Then again he is pretty game for anything.
As much as I’ve been saying lately that Robert Englund seems like the nicest guy in the world, Bruce Campbell apparently IS the nicest guy. He came to a neighboring town for a showing of something and was only supposed to stay till midnight and apparently stayed till like 4 in the morning signing autographs and the such.
I actually have met Campbell twice back in my college days. He signed both of his books for me and he is just the coolest guy ever. Snarky, funny and absolute fan lover. He will sit and bullshit with ya when at cons and stuff.
LOVE when people who are famous are like that!
